Week 4
I received positive feedback on my Week 3 prototype with people continuing to praise the atmosphere and visual style of the game. I believe that we will be able to make good use of the clock mechanic in our vertical slice.
For this week, we began working on combining all the ideas and concepts we came up with during the weeks of prototyping into a single vision for the game. We also started working laying out the level design in Unity, mainly adapting the house level that I had made previously for the Week 2 prototype. This will act as the first level of our game.
We worked on creating our Game Design Macro and laid out the plans for the final game.
Matthew: The final feedback helped me decide which features I would bring into the actual game. I decided to keep the day-night cycle, where the enemies spawn at night, the first-person camera and controls along with the stamina system. The playtesters seemed to enjoy the enemies spawning during the night and despawning in the day. The barrier indicators that were set up in the level also were a welcome addition.
For this week I decided to gray-box out a level and place enemies in it to how they behaved in a designed level. I added all my scripts from the previous prototypes to the current version.
